Landowners in these 33 Central Texas counties: Austin, Bastrop (partial), Bell (partial), Brazos, Brown, Burleson, Coke, Coleman, Colorado, Concho, Ector, Fayette, Glasscock, Grimes, Irion, Kimble, Lampasas, Lee, Llano, Madison, Mason, McCulloch, Menard, Midland, Mills, Runnels, San Saba, Sterling, Tom Green, Travis (partial), Waller, Washington, and Williamson (partial).
What’s Covered & How Much?
- Up to $750/acre for hand-cut defensible space
- Up to $2,000/acre for mulching treatments
- Up to $1,500/acre for combined methods

This grant empowers landowners to strategically reduce wildfire risks through fuel breaks and defensible spaces—critical protection for homes and communities. Texas A&M Forest Service has already awarded over $155,000 in Spring funding to landowners who took proactive steps.
