Where do I go after a wildfire?

A few years ago, Texas was ravaged with devastating wildfires. In the aftermath of a tragedy you may be tempted to jump into a clean up job, however that may not be what is best for your land or your desires for the property. If you want to protect wildlife, clearing everything out after a fire will damage animals’ shelter. Some native vegetation thrives on the aftermath of a fire. Before you decide what to do, you may like to research your options. Below are two great places to start.

Texas Parks and Wildlife

After a fire, the forest may be prime for a wildlife management plan. You can click the logo to go to a TXPW page where you can search for the biologist over your county. Your biologist will assist you in developing a management plan to best utilize your land for the wildlife you want to attract.
